Job Title Director of Information Technology

Job Description

PURPOSE: 

Provides leadership and management in key technology disciplines: wide area network, telecommunications, software development and deployment, on going software maintenance, help desk and system integration. Defines and solves user requirements, develops or purchases computer based applications and solutions. Has key budget responsibility for IT projects including personnel, hardware, software and expenses. Responsible for software development or acquisition, implementation and training for hospitals and clinics meeting established target dates and budget expectations. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Work with the Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer to establish a three year plan and goals for the organization
  • Manage, participate and oversee key projects
  • Develop user requirements, technical specifications programming and test plans for assigned projects
  • Manage and assign personnel to projects and tasks
  • Ability to lead project in developing web based system to replace Legacy Systems
  • Prepares and maintains technical specifications and related documentation to secure procedures and prevent system failure
  • Responsible for disaster recovery plan for each system
  • Researches and makes recommendations on hardware and software purchases. Participates in negotiations with vendors on behalf of the company to ensure cost-effective purchasing decisions
  • Improves existing software programs and develops new applications to meet future business needs
  • Ensures hardware and software is maintained and data is secured through proper back-ups, security and staff training
  • Assists in Managing budget and controls expenses effectively.
  • Hires, trains, develop, and appraises staff effectively. Takes corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy. Consults with Human Resources as appropriate
  • Keeps up-to-date on information and technology affecting functional area(s) to increase innovation and ensure compliance
  • Assist in the management of the Network/Telecommunications Group
  • Works on solutions that involve consolation of services and resources
  • Ability to manage a system transition for acquired entities
  • Ability to travel as the need arises

  • Extensive experience in health care as it relates to hospital and clinic systems
  • Extensive experience in the development of web based systems, Business Objects and Crystal Reporting, X12 and HL7 data exchange
  • Masters degree (MA) or equivalent; or ten to fifteen years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets the most complex documents including contracts. Ability to negotiate effective agreements with vendors and users
  • Working Knowledge of IBM AS400, Linux, IBM mainframe platforms and large wide area network topologies
